Finding things

Mabato offers four ways to find work: the Tasks page searches all your projects, the quick search field filters one project, My tasks lists what is assigned to you, and the project list has its own filters (see Projects).

Searching across projects

The Tasks page searches every project you are allowed to see. Private projects you are not on never show up in the results.

The Tasks page after searching for the title "plan". The results come from two projects and show status, project, assignee and category, with a Go to project button on each.
Searching for “plan” finds tasks from two projects.
  1. Click Tasks in the menu at the top of the page.
  2. Type part of a task name into Title. You need at least three characters; with fewer, the page says Type at least 3 characters.
  3. Press Enter, or stop typing for a moment. The results appear below, headed by the number of tasks found.

The search is not case-sensitive and finds the text anywhere in the name. Description works the same way on the description of the tasks. If you fill in several criteria, a task has to match all of them. Clear empties the form.

Every result shows the status of the task, its project, its assignee and its category. A project that has been closed is marked Closed; such projects are left out unless you tick Include closed projects.

  1. Click the name of a result to open its details at the right of the list. Click it again to close them.
  2. Click Go to project to open the task in its project: on the board, or in the backlog if its status is Backlog. Results that are parents rather than tasks (marked Vision or Container) open in the tree.

The address of the page contains your search, so you can bookmark it or return to it with your browser’s Back button. If there are more results than fit on the page, click Load more.

Quick filters

Quick filters narrow a list while you type, without leaving the page.

Category and assignee on the Tasks page

  1. Click Category and type the start of a category name. Click the name in the list. It is added as a filter below the field; you can add several, and a task matches if it has any one of them.
  2. Click Assignee, type at least two letters of a name and click the person. Several people work the same way.
  3. To drop a filter, click the × next to it.

Quick search in a project

The Search tasks field above the tree and the backlog filters that view as you type. It looks for your text in the names and descriptions of the tasks. In the tree, the parents of a match stay visible so you can see where it sits.

  1. Open the Tree or Backlog tab of a project.
  2. Click into Search tasks and type a word. The view shrinks to what matches, and the field announces the number, for example 1 task matches. If nothing matches it says No task matches your search.
  3. Press Esc to clear the field and show everything again.

My tasks

My tasks is your personal to-do list. It lists the tasks that are assigned to you, are not done and belong to open projects you can see. Tasks are sorted by project name and then by task name. Each entry shows the task name, its status and its project.

The My tasks area of the dashboard.
  1. Click Dashboard in the menu. My tasks is on the right, next to your projects. On a phone it is a tab of its own, labelled My tasks with the number of tasks.
  2. Click a task name. Its details open in the project: on the board for tasks in To do or In progress, in the backlog for tasks in Backlog.

If nothing is assigned to you, the area says No tasks are assigned to you. The list shows at most 500 tasks and tells you when it was cut off. To assign yourself a task, use the Assignee field.
