Notifications
Mabato tells you about two things: when someone mentions you in a comment, and, if you own a project, when an integration of that project fails. Both appear in the same place, the notification list behind the bell in the top bar.
The notification centre
The bell is always in the top bar. A red number on the bell is the count of unread notifications. When the bell has no number, nothing is waiting for you.
- Select the bell (Notifications) in the top bar. The list opens below it.
- Read the entries. Each one says what happened and when it happened. Opening the list does not mark anything as read.
- Select Mark as read under an entry you have dealt with. The entry leaves the list and the number on the bell goes down by one.
- Close the list by selecting the bell again, by pressing Esc, or by selecting anywhere outside the list.
The list only shows unread notifications. When there are none, it says No new notifications.
Mabato keeps no separate history page, so read entries are gone from the list for good.
New notifications arrive while you work. The number on the bell changes without a page reload.
On a phone
The bell stays in the top bar on a narrow screen, next to the user settings button and Log out. The list opens under the bar. Tap the bell to open it and tap anywhere outside to close it.
Mention notifications
You get a mention notification when a member of a project writes a comment on a task and mentions you in it. A comment mentions someone when the author types @ in the comment field and picks the person from the list of project members.
The entry reads You were mentioned in a comment.
and shows the date and time of the comment.
- Select the bell in the top bar.
- Select the text of the mention entry. Mabato opens the task the comment belongs to, even if it is in a project you do not have open right now.
- Read the comment and reply in the comment field of the task. See Task details for how comments work.
Integration failure notifications
An integration sends a web request to an external tool when a task changes its status. If that request fails, Mabato notifies the owner of the project, and only the owner. Other members of the project do not see these entries. A request that works produces no notification at all. See Integrations for how to set one up.
The entry has three lines:
- what failed:
Integration name failed for task task name
followed by the date and time; - why it failed, for example
The target could not be reached.
The Integrations chapter explains every reason and what to do about it; Open integrations
, the link to the place where you can fix the integration.
- Select the bell in the top bar.
- Select the text of the failure entry. The Projects page opens with the Edit project dialog of that project, already scrolled to Integrations.
- Check the integration, correct what the reason points to, and select Save integration.
- Close the dialog. The entry is already marked as read.
